Questions

The essentials

When can I try it?

Right now: the closed beta started on 25 September 2026. Access is granted by application — once it is approved, an invitation arrives by email.

Which devices does Squeak run on?

There are builds for Windows, Linux, macOS and Android. An iOS version is planned — it is marked separately on the downloads page.

Do I need to update the app by hand?

No. Desktop builds check the version at launch and install the update themselves. On Android the update arrives with a new apk.

How good is screen sharing?

You can stream the whole screen or a single window at up to 4K. Encoding runs on the GPU and the quality adapts to the other side's connection.

Can I chat without a server?

Yes. Direct and group chats, calls, voice messages and video notes work independently of servers — a server is only needed for communities.

Ready to try?

Download Squeak and apply for the closed beta — we'll send an invitation as soon as it is approved.
